Fat crack on my fork's carbon drop out...
turned out to be a crack in the clear coat, probably from pressure of the quick release.
Anyway
Long story short had to chip away some paint to make sure it wasn't a crack.
I looked on the forums but couldn't find any information on if it's ok to touch up chips with clear nail polish. Will this harm the carbon?
Just curious.

Dude. Your bike is jynxed...
I think clear coat is okay, but man take it to the shop. This stuff should not be happening as everyday wear and tear.

Lol I hear you, nothing has happened to the bike except me being paranoid that first day. I looked at other system six's and the finish on all of them is pretty flawed.
I've been riding it happy and without a care in the world but this i just noticed when I was taking my front wheel off and the sun hit it right. I took it to the shop and they were confident it was a crack in the clear coat, but just to be sure I chipped the cracked clear coat open and sure enough, no carbon crack.
Better safe than face planted into asphalt at 45 mph, just sayin'.

CF is stronger than most people think. Having said that, it was pretty sweet when I cracked my old bars when I put torque on them starting off from a stoplight when I was descending the day before @ 45 mph

Well apparently it's stronger than clear coat
So it IS ok to put clear nail polish on carbon fiber to patch up the chips in the paint?
Actually with CF does it even matter if it's expose...

I think the clear coat is for protecting the actual CF from UV (not sure though) but it's hard to get scratches that go all the way down to the actual CF.

Yeah, I put a few layers of clear nail polish on the underside of my fork (had some deep scratches from crap getting caught in the tires/wheels over time). The dropouts on my fork have the same symptoms as yours; I just clear coat it from time to time.
