Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Part of shift-mechanism or broken teeth?

Anyone familiar with Zipp 300 Chainring teeth, is this a part of the shift-mechanism or broken teeth?

One under the crank arm

And another on the other side

They all shape their teeth a little differently. SRAM OpenGlide cassettes even have missing teeth.

Look at the shaping of the other teeth in your pics, too -- there are a variety of shapes there.
