Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am just back on my bike after years of no exersize. I was able to do some drafting last week and I loved it. I would like to know how to find a bicycle race to watch. I am to overweight to race but it may fuel the fire. I am not very good at finding things on the computer. My home state is Connecticut, could anybody help me

Go to www.google.com. Or put your cursor on this and click the mouse button https://www.google.com/

Then type in the "search" box, "Bicycle races in Connecticut".

Try out the Tuesday night training crit in East Hartford. Better to do more of a "practice" race just to learn the ropes before diving right in. I've never done it, but theoretically it should be better for a new racer like yourself.

My goodness...New England has more races on a daily/weekly basis than you can shake a stick at.
Check out usacycling.org for sure.
For lots of action look for criteriums rather than road races...crits are held on short courses with lots of turns and lots of laps. I'd always walk the course backwards...the opposite way the racers are going...to get a better feel for the course.
Enjoy and tell us how you made out.
