Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Would this be a good deal?

If you got this bike for $4700 would it be a good deal? I did just read the thread about Fuji customer service so now I'm not sure if I would but it or not.

After reading those threads on Fuji's service, I don't think I'd buy anything from them, no matter how good the deal was.

I'm cheap but I think $4700 is about what it should cost. I think sub $4500 would be a good deal. It does look like a really nice bike though. Comes with a nice wheelset, so they probably mark it up a lot for that.

Red Group (ballpark) $1500
Reynolds Wheels (ballpark) $2300 $1300
Bars, Stem, Seat, Tires (ballpark) $400
Meaning the frame is going for around $500 $1500

The Fuji SL-1 is a good frame. I'd call it a good deal.

Personally, for the money, I'd build up a different frame, but honestly, your risk in the frame is minimal $1500. If you get tired of the Fuji, you can always move everything to another frame.

Edit: OOPS, those are assault wheels, not DV46c. Lessee, that means the frame's around $1500.

Yes, it's a good deal. I wouldn't worry about Fuji's customer service. I've heard worse about more mainstream companies. Every company has their faults.

It's a nice bike... but if I was spending $4,500 I would go somewhere else.

+2 on that...you should call Colorado Cyclist and see how much they'd charge for a comparably equipped Douglas Matrix.

Picked it up yesterday. Got it for $4050 + tax. It's been raining the past 2 days so no ride yet. I'm bummed.
