Tendinitus Help
Rode 200k with 15,000 ft of climbing ... with my saddle about 1/8" too high for half of it, and caused significant pain in my left knee. Turns out I now have tendinitis. Doctor recommended 3 weeks off. It still hurts a little after 2 weeks. Can those who have experience please help?
Do I have to wait for no pain? Can I ride easy? What can I do to minimize recurrence? Stretching good or bad? Still take Ibuprofen and ice this late? Input appreciated.

I had tendinitis in my ankle earlier this year. I went to PT for a few weeks. I stayed off the bike until i had no pain and eased back into it to make sure the pain didn't come back. I stretch a lot now and thankfully the problem hasn't come back. Good luck.

Get a sports doctor!
I was on a tour in the Rockies in Alberta, Canada, in 1985 -- the coldest August ever recorded (it snowed in the higher elevations, we had hail @ 37 deg F.). I ended up with bad tendinitis on the outside of both knees from the cold weather and dropped out of the tour with two weeks to go.
After going to the doctor, I ended up with 4 weeks of physical therapy (icing & electrical stim). He also gave me anti-inflammatory meds and special stretching exercises (I still do them) so it wouldn't happen again.
Had I not dropped out of the tour and not seen a doctor, he said it was so bad that it was likely that it would've become chronic and I would have had to stop cycling altogether.
So -- find a doctor who cares about your knees as much as you do! Good Luck!

After correcting the issue, I reduced the intensity and started back into a stretching routing which I slacked off from. Problem went away in a week. The trick is the low intensity, easy spinning.
