Man, is this gonna hurt tomorrow !!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Man, is this gonna hurt tomorrow !!

Went on our Wed nite ride tonight, 33 miles in we're climbing a hill and boom !! I'm on the ground !! The guy right in back of me just makes it around in time. I got the wind knocked out of me, road rashed left elbow and a baseball size bruise on my left hip. You ain't gonna believe what I hit.....a plastic lawn mower wheel. My friend said I ran over some grass that had grown out into the shoulder, pretty normal for this time of year, however the wheel was under it. He told me my rear wheel hit what looked like regular grass and shot out to the right, apparently sliding sideways on the plastic wheel. Talk about freak accidents !! Not looking forward to waking up tomorrow !! Anyway..got a nice 40 miles in !!!

UPDATE: The aftermath, fully developed.

If you were able to get up that's a good thing. I went down a few weeks ago when I tried stopping on a wet, slippery spot just outside a car wash and couldn't get up. Broke the pubic ramis bone. Ouch. That really hurt. It still hurts.

I had a nasty high speed over the bars crash on my mountain bike last weekend. I landed on the left lower part of my back and have a very sore hip/back with a big puffy bruise back there. Four days later it still hurts!

Gods of healing smile on us all!

Yeah, I've seen that kind of bruise on me. Remarkably, somehow, it disappears completely.

Man, that's a bigger bruise than I got on my hip from being hit by a truck! Do you have an iron deficiency?

Wow, that really is a bruise. I broke my pelvis but there wasn't a scratch on me otherwise.
