fatigue in the drops
I have always had a hard time in the drops. It seems my guads just fatigue faster in that position. I used to attribute this to being fat early in the season and having my breathing impinged.
I have a new theory - now that I am not fat and I am still dying in the drops - tight hamstrings.
The theory goes: my hamstrings are tight and when in the drops, they are over extended and cannot be utilized effectively. Consequently, I use my quads more and fatigue faster.
Is this plausible?

That makes much more sense than blaming my giant humpback.

Raise your bars... Stretch after every ride... flexibility comes... drop the bars again.
On that note, I was having the same issue this morining. I took two days off the bike to rest, gym yesterday (2nd rest day) and my back was a bit tight to where it felt like I had to pull myself into the drops.

a riding buddy went to some short reach drop bars - more compact - worked for him less tuck but felt better and now uses the drops much more than he did previous.

I was thinking of shallow drop bars. I might to that for a while, spend more time in the position, and when my flexibility (in that position, doing that activity) increases, perhaps go back to normal bars.
Same idea as silver is suggesting, more or less.
