Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sidi Shoe Sizing - Womens?

Is there a big difference between a woman's size 42 and a man's size 42? Specifically, for Sidi Genius 5s. I know men and women have slightly different foot shapes (rectangles vs. triangles), but is the difference noticeable or is it negligible? I only ask because I can get the women's shoe for about $70 cheaper than the men's. Any input's appreciated.

Thanks.

I believe the women's version is built around a women's foot shape. Doesn't mean it won't work for you.

Is that the only difference? And is it wider or narrower than men's? Is the length the same?

Women's should be significantly snugger in both width and height for a given length.

In my limited experience the difference seems to be quite small. I've ridden in both Sidi Dominator's (Men's 41) and Sidi Genius 5's (Women's 41), and they both fit fine. There is the MTB/Road variable as well, but putting them side by side they sure looked and felt the same.

Can you try them out and return them if they don't fit? For $70 it seems like it would be worth a shot.
