    canadian mesenger killed media coverup

Darcy Allen Sheppard was struck by Toronto's former attorney general Michael Bryant.

I know there is a ton of Utube stuff out on this. But I found the canadian media is now trying to spin this story in Mr. Bryants favor by smearing Sheppard and only telling part of the story.

what a joke. dont let them get away with it please send ctv a note telling then we are watching them, and ask that they do thier job proper.

    Your link is not working....

I have some faith in our judicial system and I think that it will do a better job than the CTV or YouTube, it is a very sad case though.

Yeah, it's a shame the way the media has turned it into some kind of weird class warfare thing, which it really isn't. That's just an illusion. It's all about split second choices, in this case two very bad choices.

The charges Bryant faces are serious enough-criminal negligence causing death-that's a potential life sentence for you and me, but maybe not for someone like him. I hope he gets the book thrown at him since it is such an obvious case of road rage taken to the next level.

If you see the clip of him sitting in the back of the police cruiser where he's "challenging" the cameraman with a raised eyebrow, that pretty much says it all.

Sounds like the guy may have been pretty wasted. He won't get any real time.

Anywho - take it to A&S.

I think a REALLY important thing to say here is NEVER try to take the law into your own hands. Just because someone has wronged you don't go and take your own retribution against a car driver. Get the plate number and talk to witnesses. Unless for some reason the rider was hooked up to the car he had no reason to get involved in an altercation at ALL. Let it go for another day.

Its not worth losing your life to be right.

while I understand the sentement, dont take the law into your own hands. That does not give someone the right to kill you for cutting them off. I dont know if I could have restrained myself from trying to stop him from fleeing after hitting me, if I were in his situation. I just dont like how ctv. has tried to edit reality to make it seem like Sheppard was the one at fault. They didnt even talk about WHY he was hanging onto the luxury automobile. or how the reporter tried to blame Sheppard for hitting the mailbox. yeah, I guess there wasnt a brake in the car.

He wont get squat! they didnt do any testing on him even after he admitted to the cops he was celebrating his aniversary with his wife!

lets see...... A guy on a bicycle cuts me off, I first threaten him with my car...Sorry, luxury automobile, then I hit him with my luxury automobile, after he slides off the hood I cut to the right to make my escape, but the pesky cyclist is clinging to my car! no problem I will just wipe him off on this convenient mail box. boy that was stressfull! I better get over to the hyatt and turn myself in and have a stiff drink while I wait.
but my point is the spin the new is putting on it.

^ This. Of course, I am not sure how I would have reacted, if I was in a convertible, with a loved one, being threatened by an angry, drunk cyclist...

It is a very sad case - for all parties concerned. Let the judicial system work it out.

Does anyone have any other references about this? Its the first I've heard of it, and while I want to believe the cyclists side, I haven't seen or heard anything supporting it.

I used to go to the Critical Mass in Seattle, but missed the driver running over the cyclist (and getting away with it). I talked to many of the people who were actually at the event who all said that the media's version was BS.

people who say the cyclist was intoxicated and write it off are just buying into the PR machine that Bryant hired

personally, i think they both could have avoided the unfortunate outcome of death, but the video of the "accident" clearly shows Bryant trying to intimidate Sheppard with his car, by inching closer to him at a red light, when Shepperd saw him do this, I'm sure he got angry, and he sat there when the light turned green, then while Sheppard was still standing there in front of Bryants car, Bryant attacked Sheppard using his car. What happens after that is anyones guess, somehow Sheppard becomes attached to the drivers side and that is what eventually leads to the fatal injuries. Sheppard could have possible grabbed onto Bryants steering wheel and woudln't let go, but at this point Sheppard had been attacked while standing still and no doubt furious.

So, I think if you're looking to ultimately blame Bryant for Sheppard's death, it's up to the courts and evidence that we probably haven't seen. But if you need proof that Bryant started the violence and deserves jailtime, the evidence is already out there. I only watched the video once, and it was disturbing and clear. I won't be watching it again.

This happened weeks ago. There are already several threads about it here on BF. Much media coverage.

Glad you stopped going. All it did was contribute to hostility to cyclists in Seattle. As a Seattle commuter, I don't think the Critical Mass riders are doing me any good at all.

This thread will get moved to A&S in 3, 2, 1....

Oh my ****!!! I was just listening to the f...er on CBC this morning... seems that Darcy died cuz "he banged his head"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a f'in lyar, what a PR coup they are turning this into. Michael Bryant is saying he spotted this "drunk" and "recognised" streets before the attack that they BOTH had alcohol problems... so they were "similar"!!!!!!!!!!!

He stated again he kept stalling his convertible... was he f'in drunk or what!

He's never said he was sorry to Darcy's dad

He said he would not change the way he killed Darcy, not a thing!

EDIT: There used to be a whole thread about this topic, but it seems to have disappeared?

Back when it happened we had a long discussion here about it, went on for days, many many pages, but now it's disappeared.

Bryant has now published a nice PR political comeback book for himself, as was expected!

Apparently Bryant's defence team's reams of contrary evidence and multitudes of witnesses that overwhelmed the prosecution, leading to dropping the charges still doesn't satisfy him. Here is an hour interview preceding his book tour where he tries every which way to weasel out of any responsibility.

Wow, $20 is a really hefty price for an e-book! Looks like he wants to pay off his $300,000 legal bil without working.

I haven't been able to find that thread anymore either, but it's about 3 years old and the board has gone through some changes, so who knows. It did get quite intense on both sides. But I'm sure the admins would have no qualms deleting a thread with so many accusations if asked.
