Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Don't see a Campy CAAD9 very often.

So, did this guy by the Record crankset and then ditch the arms for the FSA arms...or can you buy just the Record rings? (I guess you can, of course, it just seems like piecing each part together could take awhile, as in not just buying the drivetrain/gruppo as a set)

They're FSA arms with FSA rings, not sure why it matters though.

This has been a pet peeve of mine for a while. How the hell is it "full Record" when it uses an FSA crankset? Or full Rival, or Ultegra, or whatever... I can understand saying "full" when not using, say, the wheels, or seatpost (if those are still part of a groupset these days), but the crankset should be considered part of it.

Hey, if it were up to BD a bike with a Record rear derailleur would be a "Record" bike.

Yeah, but in the Q&A section he describes it as "full" Record. That's the very sketchy part.

It's very difficult for me not to put a bid in on this bike. Glastonbury is literally about 30min from my house. I'm restraining myself as this would be my very first real road bike. and 54cm would fit me as well. I'm really debating if waiting to buy a 2010 Caad0-5 is worth the wait or if I should go check this one out.

they retain their value pretty nicely.
I'd put down 75% of what you would for a 2010 CAAD9-5

Well, I looked at BD's Record bike, and it's tough to argue ... it includes the crank:

Derailleurs: NEW Campagnolo Record Carbon 10 Speed (20 Speed total) front and rear
Shifters: NEW Campagnolo Record Carbon 10 Speed (20 Speed total) (integrated brake + shift levers)
Brakes: Campagnolo Record Calipers
Crank: Campagnolo Record Carbon Compact for 10 Speed 50/34T UltraTorque
Bottom Bracket: Campagnolo Record Carbon External Bearing Cartridge with Ultra Torque Hollow Spindle (english/standard thread)
Cassette/chain: 2007 Campagnolo Record 10 Speed 12-25T / Record 10speed chain
Hubs: Top of the Line - Ritchey WCS Protocol Sealed Precision Bearing
Rims: Ritchey WCS Protocol Black Anodized Aero OCR Rim with Bladed spokes

You're looking at the 105 model for $1500 + tax ?
I'd take the Campy one on Ebay, unless it goes way out of a reasonable price range.

I could probably fit on a 54 ..........hmmmmmmmm.........

Yeah, I'll agree with the Record bike. But there are several models that are listed as "Ultegra" or "105" or even Dura-Ace where the only components from that line are derailleurs and maybe shifters. My "XT" mountain bike, for instance, had an XT rear derailleur and that was it.

I agree, but the post I replied to indicated that you had to have Campy rings on an FSA crank to work correctly(at least how I read it).

I hope you realize that since I live in Cheshire, and I'm probably not more than 10-15 minutes away from you, you WILL be required to show off this bike to me if you buy it......

please?

The guy you replied to assumed that the seller was honest with "full Record" and was therefore including the crankset, and was thus trying to figure out the FSA crankarms.
