Jashgtp New Bike Build ~ Intense Fenix

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Jashgtp New Bike Build ~ Intense Fenix

Im going to use this thread to showcase my build of my new build.

I currently have a litespeed ultimate but wanted to check out this whole carbon fiber deal.

The frame i am using for my new build is an Intense Fenix.

Frame apparently is made in the same shop that makes the pinarello frames. To me it looks the same as the F 4:13 except for the seat tube and more meat by the headtube area.

The group i will be installing is Shimano Ultegra SL.

I will be updating as i build it up...so keep checking back and let me know what you think.

~Jash

So here is the frame. Custom paint designed by me. I like how the litespeed carbon frame looked and added a little giant tcr to the bottom bracket area. And a little retro styling on the front fork.

Cool paint job. That is some super-glossy black paint. I'm curious if you painted it yourself or farmed the job out. Have fun with your build.

cool looking frame. Not familiar with Intense's road stuff - their mtb gear is killer.

Not 100% sold on the paint job - wheels will make or break it.

Update:

I had a little time start adding a few parts. Slow and steady.

Seat post is a Pinarello Most and pinarello seat collar.
Ultegra Front and Rear Derailers.

Fav. part so far is the Parlee clamp. What an awesome piece of carbon.

Watching. Curious if you are going with an accent color to set off the black and white frame? Love the paint btw.

Was able to get BB and Crankset installed along with the matching Ultegra SL pedals.

Currently have my Mavic Ksyrium ES wheels installed with a 6700 Ultegra 11-23T cassette.

Headset is a Cane Creek 110 IS.

Fork is a Real Design HP Signature Aero.

Stem is a Deda Elementi Zero100

Time for some pictures.....

Looks like it came from the factory that does Pinarello's stuff. That's 100% an F4:13 front triangle. Stays are likely different for copyright reasons or whatever...

Not to mention the need for the MOST seatpost, because Pinarello uses a 31.0 post for some reason and they're the only ones who make it.

They used the same mold for several different models so I'm not sure which grade of CF is in your frame, but if it's half as nice as the ride of the F4:13 you'll be immensely happy.

The fork on your Pinarello are probably made by these guys.

Looks like there's no point nowadays to actually buy brand-named stuff when you can get it straight from the manufacturers for a fraction of the price.

Tough to say, at least not with more info. Even Pinarello made 2 or 3 different frames in the same molds that varied in weight by several hundred grams just based on the type of CF they used. Not sure what, if any, impact that had on the ride.

Looking at the fork, it's definitely the same molds, but my entire steerer tube is woven CF, which (so I've read) gives a little more strength, etc. So clearly the build quality can vary depending on what you're putting in the mold.

If I were looking for a low-budget weekend crit bike, though, something like this or a Pedal Force would be tough to beat.

i love your paint scheme. moreso the area around the bottom bracket. you should patent it and sell it to pedal force. can you imagae pedalforce's RS2 w/ 2010 force groupo and your paint scheme with sould 4.0 wheels in white? that would be absolute sex.

its a shame your putting ultegra sl and those wheels, or else you could have the bf bike build of the year
