Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wind protection

When the weather gets cooler here in GA the wind picks up. Bibs and knee warmers are fine but I need some wind protection for the boys. Is there some sort of wind brief that can be worn under bibs or is there another way to combat this problem? Once I move to tights there is no issue.

Two words- Peter Heater

A second layer helps as well. I have worn compression shorts (no chamois) over my bibs and much to the chagrin of our community will use Under Armour compression shorts under (the crowd gasps) my bibs.

Lightweights & heavyweights depending on the weather. Up here in CT I sometimes need to wear both.

I've used a headsweats cap placed down the front of my bibs/shorts. Does a good job of blocking the wind without going to full tights which would be too warm on some days.

You could probably cut a piece of fabric from an old shirt or something to do the same thing. I would just be sure it's a "performance" fabric, and not cotton.

If it's cold enough for me to need wind protection for my groin I probably need it for my legs too, so I just wear my windproof tights. Windproof front with full coverage to my waist and a breathable back so I don't overheat.

I'd just let them experience the cold. Thataway, they shrink and stay out of the way.
