Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Paint scheme for new frame

I'm putting together a commuting bike and have sourced a cheap Alu frame to use. I think it would be improved by de-branding and painting - good to hide how cheap it is! A friend (spray painter in real life) can paint it, so I'd like some suggestions for simple paint schemes that would look good. I really like 2-tone bands (eg Lemond, Vanilla, Baum) but wonder how good this style would look without logos on the band.

Any suggestions?

Here's the frame in question:

I'm not sure if the decals can easily be removed or if they're under clear coat (it should arrive today). Bands over the logos might be an option.

Some examples of the sort of look I'm thinking of - how would it be without logos?

maybe you could do a design of some sort within the bands, to take the place of those logos

Nice idea!

I've also done some playing to see if two thinner bands look ok on a white or matte silver frame:

(though the bottle cages from BikeCAD don't look great)

Personally, I would do something like Dario Pegoretti, but that's just me.

looks like an old school retro paint scheme, very nice...personally, I love yellow/white or black/yellow.

Just keep playing around till something strikes you...kinda like dating...
