Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Let's get this straight you Guru blowhards.

I was just on the Guru website. They talk about this sub 800 gram frame. Total vaporware of course, it's not listed on their products section. I do hate that.

Then they talk about how their bikes are 'made one at a time', and how they have 'soul'.

I mean, let's dispense with all the preposterous, bike weenie delusional, effing imbecilic Fred drivel. Bikes are friggin bikes. People have souls. Dogs have souls. OK, maybe even cats have souls (I realize that last one is a stretch).

Bikes don't have souls. They're friggin bikes.

God this sport is such a staggering idiotfest.

Discuss. I'm going to ride in the J.T. Ripper fog and drizzle. Try to behave yourselves while I'm gone.

Goats even have soul, but like you not sure about cats. But it may be that Guru uses the horns on the goat to shape the drop bars. Maybe that is where its soul comes from.

The guys who set out to build the awesomest bike ever think it's the awesomest bike ever. Why doubt them? They said so over wine.

I know my bikes don't have souls, because if they did they'd be complaining all the time about getting stuck being owned by someone as fat and slow as me.

Perhaps they can extract the soul from a dog and put it in a bike. Hopefully, they'l use greyhounds.

My bike has a soul, if you haven't seen your bike's soul then you're missing the point of this sport.

Cathexis: investment of mental or emotional energy in a person, object, or idea

When one cathects with a great bike, the person becomes great himself when he owns the object.
This is more or less unconscious and of course it does not last... so then you have to obtain a new bike.

Ain't it wonderful?
