Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I hate driving through NYC as all the hipsters lean on your car, and grab on for free rides. It's so annoying and I yell at them all the time.

I'm generally a hipster apologist, but that would drive me insane. I've heard of it, but I've never actually seen it done. What do they grab, your fenders?

Antenna or door handle.

I had a few who tried to do that to me. He freaking opened my rear door!!! I guess I drive a magnet for this since I own a girly SUV. It's tall enough so the handles are in a perfect position. But it's girly enough so they don't think I'm a tough guy.

Well, I started locking my doors at all times after that incident. The next guy (a few weeks later paid for it). He started holding on to the door. I downshifted and floored it. I'm not going to say what the outcome was....but it wasn't pretty.

As an auto enthusiast and an avid cyclist, I just can't stand it when one group doesn't respect the property of the other group.

Hahah, awesome.

However, auto enthusiasts don't drive chick SUVs. Something's fishy here

I've never seen this in person. Maybe once, a few years ago, but it was a bike messenger on one of those road warrior style mountain bikes. Also, I think the average "hipster" is not capable of feats which require that much dexterity.

you betcha. Last year I parked about half a mile from the finish of the High Sierra Century so I could beat the crowd on the way out, then rode in for the start. When I reached my truck six hours later, NINE members of a Los Angeles bike club had leaned their bikes against it and were off peeing in the desert. I began moving bikes away from it so I could get the tailgate open (not gently, I'lll admit, but not violently enough to cause any damage). Two of the club members came roaring out of the sagebrush telling me what was going to happen if I touched their effing bikes, and I said #$@# you, #$@#head, get your effing bikes off my truck, and they started closing in, and i took the big four-battery rentacop flashlight out from under the seat, and we were standing there like that when the sheriff rolled up and bleeped his siren at us. It was a year ago, and I'm STILL pissed. Not so much about the truck, which was scratched a little but is too old to care about. I resent it that these a-holes are cycling's public face to a lot of people.

My definition of "avid cyclist" does not include endangering other cyclist, maybe that's just me.

So a dog lover will never hurt another dog? I love dogs, I have 4. But if any dog comes attacking, I have no problem using my blade and running it from his balls up to his rib cage if he comes attacking.

I'm an auto enthusiast. But if a moron in a car does something to me, I'll retaliate.

I'm an avid cyclist (have close to 2,500 combined miles from my 4 bikes this year), but I have no problem retaliating against a moron on a bicycle.

I'm a white man. But if another white man does something bad to me, I'll retaliate.

Do you get the idea?
