Um, no, but he might have referred to him as black if he were black. Although, if he did, that wouldn't really add anything to the story. Knowing that the guy who wanted him to wear the flower was gay made it make more sense.

Like this:
I watched comedy show the other day and a guy was singing about he wanted to dress up in women's clothing and hang out at night in bars. Well, that's kinda funny, but mostly just weird. OK, add that the guy is a lumberjack, and the humor begins to make a little more sense.

I see no reason for most of what the OP has spewed forth, but this is getting a little silly. There is nothing wrong with being gay, there is nothing wrong with saying someone is gay.

I'm sure that there are more good intentions here than people are able to convey in their posts; discussions of such issues tend not to end well on Internet forums, and often result in various posters claiming to feel falsely accused of bias.
For what it's worth, I can pretty easily imagine a straight guy offering me a flower to wear.

No thanks, p-***. I would just feel embarrassed riding along at 20 on what I consider to be racing-only equipment. I have a set of Fulcrum Racing 1s that work great. I bought them because I like the way they look. I don't want/need Zipps cuz I don't race. I don't buy things I have no use for.

And if you do, how do you know? They do look cool. Is that the reason?
If you don't race you shouldn't buy wheels with racing in the name, actually you can't buy any upgrades at all and I have now decide you must ride a denalli from wally world.

I actually first read this thread because I'd never really thought about carbon wheels until a few days ago; I was pretty happy with my aluminum clinchers, or at least thought I was. I've actually learned a lot from this thread and a few others.
Among the carbon wheels, it doesn't appear that there are any differences of the magnitude that you would see between alloy wheels and carbon wheels. In other words, for a newbie, would it really make that much of a difference whether she or he started with Zipps, Heds, or lower-cost options sold to independents? I saw some Reynolds DV3K clinchers on Bonktown.com a few nights ago for $1,000; after reading this thread, that seems like it was a good deal. (If I recall correctly, they sold five of seven sets.)
Thanks.

Fulcrum 1's? That is a expensive, fast, light wheel. It is a racing wheel by anyone's definition yet you do not race. Why not simply ride a 105/Open Pro wheel build?

I feel bad posting useful information in a thread like this, but I will give it a try anyways.
Looking at published results of wheel aerodynamics tests (like the one Zen Cyclery posted a link to), the difference in "absorbed" power between a very non-aero wheel like Mavic R-SYS and a very aero wheel like Zipp 808 is approximately 18 Watts at 50 km/h (31.25 mph). Using a relationship to estimate speed given power, the difference in speed is less than 0.5 mile per hour in favor of the aero wheel, on flat ground and all else (rider+bike weight, tires/pressures etc.) being equal.
This may not mean much to casual riders, but it is a huge difference for those that compete in a solo riding (TT, breakaway) situation.

Getting back on topic ()...
You know, for the price of the Fulcrum "Racing" 1 you could have got some deep section carbon wheels right (like the Reynolds DV3K they had on Bonktown for $999 the other day)?
Just saying...

I will never ever buy anything for my bike just because I or anyone else thinks it looks good. That is a silly way to spend money on a bike. But I tell ya what, I also won't ever buy anything for my bike that looks god awful either. Yuck! Those stickers are just dorky to say the least.

And now, on the positive tip, I want to congratulate all of you who have posted in this thread. You've refrained from using the word I find second most annoying: "wheelset." I'm not sure how we could get through a nine-page thread without it. In fact, it makes me wonder if I don't know what "wheelset" means. Maybe it means something other than a pair of wheels. Help?
Anyone want to guess what I think is the first most annoying word in this forum?
