Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Advice On Buying A Road Bike

A freind of mine is looking to get into road biking and is looking to get into a nice road bike for about
600$ but i think he would be willing to go up to 1000$ if somthing really nice came up. He currently rides a schwinn moab with slicks. Any help would be appreciated.

If your friend has never owned/ridden a road bike then maybe
a quality used road bike might be the best first trial buy.
If your friend decides he doesn't like a road bike then he's
not out gobs of money a new one would cost.

+1 on the Fuji Roubaix!!! My second choice was a Specialized Allez Elite Double. The Specialized was a little less expensive but I feel like my Fuji was worth the extra money. My LBS currently has the Allez Elite for $790 which is what I will be picking up this weekend for my wife. We are both newbies but wanted to start out on something with at least 105 components. After riding several bikes in the $500 range with the Sora group we rode a few with the 105's and were instantly sold.

The LBS that I bought my bike at now has it for $150.00 less than I paid.

An Orbea Aspin, Campy triple, carbon fork and set stays. I love mine, a good deal at now $900.00.
