Ps3 will make you fat and happy. brakes will make you fit and happy... Oh, and I'm not here to help.
And if you're just buying a blu-ray player, save more and buy the Oppo. It's better.

Oppo is better but you have to spend $500 for it unless I'm in error.
Sony 3 for just a blu-ray player is not a good use of the money. Any brand name blu-ray player will generally cost less, play more quietly though no game playing opportunities.
What you do...don't care.

Video gaming is a big waste of time and cycling isn't.

Bingo.
Of course, speaking of big wastes of time... you and I are both sitting on the internet reading about some guy who wants to know if he should buy a game console and we actually care enough to write back. What does that say about us?

When you win the World Championships for cycling, everyone cheers and two girls kiss you.
When you win the World Championships for gaming, your mom yells at you to turn that damn thing off.
I hope that helps.

PS3 will not take away from cycling time. Brakes may improve your stopping ability... slightly.
PS3 will make for more enjoyable recovery days (my Wed off for vet's day will be full of CoD Modern Warfare 2).
Through my experience, I've witnessed that the only people who "hate" video games have p!ss poor hand-eye coordination.

PS3 and I hate video games.
I use it to playback music over better speakers, watch movies, view pictures and the odd web surf bigger screen for bike bling.
Brakes are just bling unless your current ones are garbage and that is usually just bad pads.

Assuming you already have some brakes on your bike, therefore you dont need them. If you do not have a DVD player, PS3 is way to go as you can watch some TDF or Spinervals while riding your trainer.
If you dont have trainer, get trainer instead.

The PS3 is very quiet. You can also use it to stream movies wirelessly from your computer to your TV (get a free app called "Playstation Media Server"). Plus, games.
This question is a no-brainer. If you have any desire for a PS3 you'll get way more enjoyment from it than a very minor upgrade in brakes, of all things.
