Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm looking for some decorations for my wifes bike

We bought my wife a Specialized Dolce this summer. She loved the bike and how it looked. There was only one problem; it didn't fit. We changed and moved everything and no dice. We had to return it. She ended up
getting a Specialized Allez. She really likes the bike except that it is a "mans" bike and it's black. We got her a seat with pink rails, but that is it. It has Sora STI brake levers and Bontrager Select rims. Does anyone have
any suggestions for a way to "feminize" this bike for her? I am looking at some custom decals if I can find a high definition pdf of the logos because I don't think they can scan them off the bike. I am thinking pink brake
hoods, cables, skewers... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

pink aftermarket hoods? pink cabling?

i'm not sure they do make the hudz for sora stuff, but pink cabling from jagwire is definitely doable. you could also do the same with the tires...

Umm, the Dolce is one of Specialized's women's specific models.

Anyway, looking on the Specialized site, it looks like it is black and silver? I suppose you could put pink hudz, pink bottle cages, and pink skewers to girl it up for her.

Purely Custom has all kinds of metal bits in different colors. Maybe she'd like the rhinestone encrusted spacers

Depending on how much you want to spend on her, there's always Chris King Pretty and Strong components.

Good stuff, good cause and it's pink

Yes, that was the point. She is 5'-10" and all legs. The Dolce just didn't fit her.

That's what I get for only reading the first sentence of your post.

WSD is supposed to be for longer legs proportionate to your body (women generally have a longer inseam per height than men), but what fits is what fits. So, I'm still all for pink hoods & bottle cages. +1 for the Chris King products if you've got the cash, too.

My friend has those pink hubs. She also special ordered pink HTFU wrist bands. Maybe that's what your wife needs?

Here's what I've done for my wifes bikes:

Orbea- not really that much, added a Terry Damselfly (black), and Vcgraphix name sticker where the color of the flowers match the bike
https://www.vcgraphix.com/en/Store/de...+Name+Stickers
The handlebars are Deda Alanera, the bar tape Deda, the bottle cages Rav-X, all has blue accents that matches the bike.

Scott CR1 Contessa; Already a carbon/pink/white bike, but we added Terry Damselfly (pink), Deda bar tape (pink), Hüdz pink replacement hoods. Again, name stickers with color matching flowers. And she found a saddle pack (under saddle, for tube/tire levers) that is black with pink fur on it (yes, the bike does look very pro, but that saddle pack just makes me laugh every time I see it!)

All in all, make sure that you color match everything and that it's functional and comfortable, and you will have a very happy wife. Remeber, the Holidays are coming up, so this might be the perfect time to do some upgrades!

My wife has a black MTB that she thought looked too masculine. I took it to an auto body shop and had their painter do some pinstripes in pink and white. That plus clearcoat was $250.00.

I so want to snark bout maybe getting pink streamers or something... but I won't (or did I just do it?)
Really though, look at a custom steerer cap as part of your "upgrades." My sweet wife has one that says "My Lil Pony"
Their web site sucks, and is a pain to navigate, but
https://www.purelycustom.com/p-253-sp...adset-cap.aspx

You could also personalize it with stickers from
https://www.vcgraphix.com/en/Store/de...asp?subCatID=0

I don't have art, but I've seen some pretty hip multi color bar tape wraps.

On a black bike, a color seat, with matching tape can really change the look. Maybe toss on matching water bottles, then teh black bike becomes a canvas for your accessory colors.

Post photos when you're done!

EDIT: Matching tires too!

My wife points out that women specific bikes are usually for small women. Our 5'10" friend can't get a Divia that will fit because she's too tall. It works out because WSD bikes solve small frame problems. Tall women can often get by just fine with a slightly smaller "mens" frame, then just raise the saddle and have everything come out right.

Go to the local baseball card store, buy a cheap one and attach it to the chain stay using a cloths pin.

That used to impress the girls when I was 12.

But then, that was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away,

cccorlew-Thanks for the suggestion on the custom steerer cap. I can't get the link to work, but will keep trying. I am ordering some jagwires and cages. Anyone know where I can get some pink skewers? I could always sand hers down and repaint them. They're nothing fancy right now, so, if I mess it up, I won't be out much. I can't find hudz for Sora and I don't want to upgrade to 105s or Ultegras just so I can change the color of the hoods. I do think some new bar tape is in order. I really appreciate the help!!

Try this link
https://www.purelycustom.com/
Their web site isreally bad, you need to click all over to find custom caps, but they really are there. You can get words or stock images.

Pink bar tape, cages and / or bottles and maybe tires if they make such a thing. See how that goes for starters. Headset spacers and cap would be cool too.

If it were my bike I'd want the hubs, headset spacers, cap, & bar tape, but that's quite the outlay what with the hubs. At it happens I'm a woman who really, really dislikes pink, so the issue won't come up. Ever.

That's true. I don't think I've ever seen a WSD bike larger than 56cm. There was no such thing as WSD when I first started riding, and women made do.

To put the WSD thing into perspective, my wife is about 5'5" and fits a 54cm Ruby perfectly. I'm a bit under 5'9 and ride a 54cm Trek and have about 2 inches less seat post showing than she does. I can barely get mine on to my Park repair stand. What size WSD would a woman 5'10 need? Who knows...maybe 58cm? That's just weird.

My wife had an all black bike. She thought that anything pink would be too gaudy with the black and look childish. She settled on light blue bar tape and likes it. Says it looks feminine without being too girlish.

As a petite woman, I bought a Giant WSD bike but actually "masculanized" it afterwards by changing some of the white components to black as I didn't want a little-girly looking bike. There's nothing wrong of course with being feminine (off the bike, I'm totally girly), but I thought that the whole point of a WSD bike was to improve bike fit, not so women could have pink bikes with sparkles and rainbows on them.
