2009 motobecan sprint
i just bought a new 2009 motobecan sprint, sounded pretty good for price w/ultegre components, aluminum 7005 double/butted tubing, and carbon-fiber seatstays/forkblade, etc. the wheelset sounded weak, but overall?
i know it is not cannondale, felt, trek, ...., but hope it will be a jump for me from current cannondale-SR600 (1986), bought in 1995.
is there any review of this 2009 motobecan sprint at this site so i can see some user reviews?
thanks!

Why don't you just go for a ride on it and trust yourself to tell if it's better than your old bike? I'm sure it's great.

thanks!
clarity: i bought 2009 motobecane sprint sprint lastnight through eBay. seller is in florida, bike comes from texas distributor, and is not in my possession yet!
i read positive reviews at roadbike.com but question if there were any users of this bike/model here at bf.
i do plan to put miles on it and am confident it's better than 1986 roadbike i have been using. Cannondale has been great intro roadbike after my a/d inter10 cm d/b 531 1980 road bike!
i am exploring feedback from users of this sprint and will add my review after possession/use!
thanks again,
tomg

well, it (motobecane sprint) arrived today and fell on our cat while measuring weight. cat is taby long hair i call from "bighty bitsh", "pretty girl", "kee kat", or "stupid shif t" depending on her disposition at the time.
the bike fell of her today (in the kitchen), wife states it was 1 of her 9............
therefore, this orange painted frame, with white, and black bicycle is officially entitled "tempest". i'll inform BF of how this bike weighs out, less how the cat is doing!
progress notes to continue,

I think you will be very happy. It may require some adjustments, (truing, adj brakes and FD/RD) These are all things that the LBS does when you buy from them. You need to do it, or hire some one to do it. Most importantly, get it fit. They are hard to find, but a true top of the line bike fitter will cost about $100 - $150 and take 2 - 2.5 hrs. Idealy, you should have done this before you bought the bike, but I didn't either.
None the less, I bought the right size bike. Got it fit, make a big difference in comfort and power delivery. Overall, the best (and at first my most reluctant) $100 spent on "after market" stuff. I'm sure LBS owners and "fanboys" will chime in and say "fit is part of the LBS value proposition." Indeed there may be a few that can really do a full blown pro fit, and may throw that in to the purchase. Most, however, do a 10 min size up and a few quick seat and handle bar adjustments and call it a fitting.
Anyway, enjoy the bike and keep us posted. Pix or it doesn't exist.

Actually, the bike seemed like a rather amazing value.

dhbj, htroa, and odjamrp'd!
What is being said?
ANYWAY
i put this motobecane sprint together, weighed it in comparison to my Cannondale SX600. Motobecane weighed 21.2 pounds without peddles. my goal was below 18.5 lb as described. my 1986 Cannondale weighs 23.4 pound with peddles.
i am sending Motobecane back, am exploring trek or cannondale CAAD or six, and appreciate all feedback given.
i don't see how letters help in bicyclist support, but we all have styles in talking.
spin safe and fvdjjrc :-) !

Wait so you are returning it because it weighs 21.2 pounds? Also the BD website says it weighs 19.5 pounds, which is probably the weight of a 48cm with a cut fork, no spacers, and a cut seatpost. I wouldn't trust their weight measurement. Also I wouldn't worry about two pounds. At that price most (new) bikes will probably be around 20 pounds without pedals.
Anyways if you do return it, I would make sure you get the return shipping covered. Sounds like it would cost a lot.

thanks for your and everyones replies!
the statement from sprtymama (ebay) listed return ok in 7 days, buyer to pay return shipping. seller also stated in advertisement that she gets a discount in shipping, usually costs her $50, she absorbes the extra $10 for the sell. i am reconsidering return, am exploring options to decrease weight. i hear the tires are very heavy, seat is not good either. doing some modifications and customizing may be what is needed. this also would keep me on line to saving $ to pick-up Cannondale CAAD9 or Trek Maddam (sp) in 2 to 3 years. i am assuming the return shipping cost would be +/- $80, the cost of a replacement pair of tires.
as a practice bike, the rush from riding CAAD at 15lbs 3 years from now will be even more exiting!
it is snowing pretty good here in s nj, don't think i'll be test riding it today!
thanks again.

OP didn't do his homework. This would have gotten him there in one step.
