Why Don't You Commute?
I did many years ago when I first moved to Los Angeles during the month of January. One day freezing in Ohio, the next day 60's and sunny! So I took to riding my vintage 10 speed to and from work, which was a 2 mile one way trip. Now I work at home, so I don't need to travel at all, except by foot. I do, however, often have to travel into town at night, and for that I mount the motorized steed and do battle on the local highways.
If I did live within a reasonable distance from where I worked, I would gladly ride my bike to and from work. Why not?

stole your bike
Working from home is not an excuse to not commute to work. Get on your bike and go for a 50 mile ride then come back and work. This is very disappointing....slacker.

Oh, you meant bike commute. Yeah, I do that all the time as well.
Mods: Please move this to the"compute" thread.

I work in outside sales, so I have to have a car to do my job (can't ride around in a suit for 80 miles a day). I could just leave my car at work and ride to and fro, but there's no facilities to clean up after my ride.
I may look into it in the spring, as there's a gym across the street that apparently has pretty low rates.
The other problem is that I'd always be riding in the dark in the morning, based on my schedule. Dying is not a part of my plan.

I work from home.
Prior to working from home, my commute required that I cross the Missouri River on an interstate highway. State Troopers would frown on that.

It doesn't make much sense for me to pedal to work because I do morning training rides before work.

There is one particularly nasty hill (well actually a downhill, over a bridge and then up another hill - avg 5%) and there is no verge for a cyclist to ride on safely. THe distance is not a problem, but my safety is paramount. I know there are a few that brave this route, but I am not one of them...... For the Aussies out there - the ride is Roseville Bridge - East to West.

That's no excuse. Roscomare Road is a good alternative.
