Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New bike - I'm on the white bike bandwagon!

Had loads of bits laying around, nearly enough for a full bike and I've always admired Planet X carbon frames. Not trying to be something they are not, even though I bet there are some top end manufacturers passing these off as their own.

Modest but light spec

Frame: Planet X SL Pro Carbon
Forks: Planet X carbon
Bars: Deda Zero 100 44cm
Stem: Syntace F119 110mm
Headset: FSA Orbit CE
Bar Tape: De Rosa (until the white stuff turns up)

Front Brake Lever: Carbon Centaur
Front Caliper: Planet X SL
Rear Brake Lever: Carbon Centaur
Rear Caliper: Planet X SL

Shifters: Carbon Centaur
Cables: Campagnolo

Front Mech: Veloce
Rear Mech: Carbon Centaur

Seat: Concept EX (cheapo wiggle saddle)
Seat Post: KCNC Ti Pro Lite 31.6 x 350
Seat Post Clamp: M-Part

Cranks: Chorus UT Compact
Chainring(s): Chorus
Chain: KMC 10SL
Cassette: KCNC
Pedals: Look Keo
Bottom Bracket: Campagnolo

Front Wheel:
Rim: DT Swiss 1.1
Spokes: CX Ray
Hub: Tune Mig45
Tube: Vittoria
Tire: Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX

Back Wheel:
Rim: DT Swiss 1.1
Spokes: CX Ray
Hub: Tune Mag190
Tube: Vittoria
Tire: Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX

Accessories: Cannondale bottle cage

Weight: 15.5lbs

I'm going to get some Soul 2.0 and maybe try the tioga twin tail saddle which I think would drop a further .5lb off.

I was thinking a set of these would look good but it could tip it over the edge white wise.

Nail polish?

Oh, I get it, because it's pearlescent right?

I was quite surprised when I got it out of the box, I thought it was going to just a gloss white but it's a really smart colour.

Pictures just don't do it justice, well, not the ones I take anyway!

GREAT looking bike! I like the white pearl, that's very cool. Looks very snazzy. You're right though, the bar tape has to go . You need a contrasting color. Can't really see in the saddle but are those stripes red? If so, how about red bar tape and cage? If you get the SOULs perhaps some red in those decals? Or go monochrome and key off the muted gray decals on the frame? I think Sean at SOUL might have some stealth decals for the wheels...

I like white (and red) too, shameless plug for mine :

Well yeah, I was going to suggest you consider a better camera as your next upgrade.

The way I look at it is we white bike folks force ourselves to have a cleaner bike, which is a happier bike, which makes for a faster bike. Clean = Fast. Agree?

Yes. Plus, I even have white leg and arm warmers. Does that make me extra fast... or just a fashion disaster?

A fashion disaster, but only after Labor Day.

Unfortunately the roads outside are as white as the bike.

No riding anytime soon for me, looks like I'll have to make do with the trainer.

White bar tape is on it's way.

Beautiful piece of equipment, I do not like white, but that pearl color is very nice. Definitely change it out to white rims.

As a fellow white bike owner I would say don't change it out to white rims. I doubt you'll ever find white rims to match the pearl white of the frame it will end up looking awful!

How much speed do you lose, going from a red bike to a white bike?

OP - looks great, now a ride report. I also like the looks of the Planet X stuff and want to know if it is worth pulling the trigger on.

He's not riding slowly. He's just enjoying the race course longer.
