Recommended Rims?
I just bought a Cervelo S2 and I think it's a tad heavy for the pricetag ~18lbs. The store says it's due to the stock rims. The rims that came out on it just say Shimano but I don't have any idea what kind.
At first, I thought that I could just lose the weight on my body instead of the rims and it wouldn't make a difference, but someone else told me that moving a lighter rim is a lot different than losing 1lb of bodyweight.
I didn't want to spend too much money, probably around $900-1000.
Thanks for any suggestions.

IMO, I'd go with deep section wheels since your S2 is an aero frame--just for the symmetry.
In that price range, I'd look at the Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL. You will only save 100g over the stock wheels but the Cosmic Carbones are bombproof. You can ride around them every day and also race on them if you race.
Furthermore, the Cosmic Carbone will look great on your bike--do not let anyone fool you, looks matter.
Also, Mavic has a pretty decent crash replacement program (2 year MP3).
However, there's just too many variables left open in your question, like how much you weigh, how much riding you do, how fast you ride, whether or not you race, terrain you ride in, etc.
The only two things you seem to care about in your OP is weight and price. Those are the two of the least important things IMO in cycling yet it seems like most care about those two things quite a bit...

i'd hold onto to the shimano's for training wheels, and get a set of racing wheels with that money. This way you don't have to compromise weight for durability.

If you just want a set of lightweight rims, there are many custom builders that can knock a set of ~1400 gram wheels for ~$400 or so.

I am in the same boat, getting s2 frame but would like something that look nice on them... everyone knows aero wheels will improve your speed by at least 20%!
what did the OP decide?
