Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

hammer cycling kits - what else?

I am looking to buy some kits as I don't want to support my club anymore. What are some good kits out there that anyone can buy?

I saw the hammer kits and they are real nice, hear great things all the time.

But what else is out there?

(none of that unattached bullcrap)

Every 4/5 race I've been to seems to have a "Hammer Nutrition" team in the field.
I believe Velowear makes the Hammer stuff, you might want to check out their site.

I was about to try those bibs from Love2Pedal, but he's on vacation most of this month. That and a solid color jersey is my preference.

I'm kind of an old guy and I just don't get wearing the colors of a team you aren't on. What's up giving some corporation that doesn't support you free advertising? I can sort of understand wearing some pro team's you are fan of to show your support be even that kind of edges into poserdom to my eyes. I'm with urbanknight on this.

Hammer makes great products, I don't have any problem wearing their kit on occasion.

I messed up - Velowear doesn't make Hammer... Voler did, but I don't know who makes it anymore.
Velowear sells Voler product, and has some decent kits.
If you sign up with them you get some pretty good coupons and they'll email you specials.

you don't need a kit if you're not on a team, just go buy a plain jersey.

Yeah, I thought Velowear was just the semi-custom front for Voler.

If you use hammer products and race, by signing up and wearing their kit you do get discounts on product so. if you are not attached, it's a deal.

They are the same company, and have two sites, voler.com and velowear.com Voler is full custom kits. Velowear sells a 'jersey of the month' and other designs, including semi-custom.

Hammer is made by Voler. (Hammer also sells some Bergamo bibs.) The Hammer kits for 2010 are the new fabric and chamois. I am ordering a kit and will wear it proudly. $60 shorts and $40 jersey for a company I like is great! Plus, it's red and black, so will go well with my TT bike. My old pink kit will still go better with my sea green bike though. I'll need to get a new bike when my old kit wears out I guess.

Thanks for the clarification and the heads up on the new Hammer Kits.
One can never have too many bibs and jerseys (less laundry), I'll have to log on and check out this years kit.

I have the Bergamo bibs and I'm very happy with them. My butt feels fine even after 3 hours on rollers with them on.

Yes, the stuff does tend to quickly pile when the frequency of washing goes down.
And in the summer this isn't a good thing.

What about probikekit.com? I thought they actually had a team license that anyone could race under. Or is that in the UK only?
