Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Dura Ace 7900 Rear Derailleur

Can anyone tell me if the Dura Ace 7900 rear derailleur will work with Ultegra SL shifters off a 2008 Madone.

The shifters are 10-speed, right? If so, it will work.

Yes they are 10 spd shifters, but I've read a lot about the Dura Ace 7900 not being compatible with older shifters. I've found a new derailleur for a price I can't pass up, I just want to make sure that it will even work with what I have. Thanks

According to teh shimano compatibility chart, it is only compatible with ST-7900 - various other internet sources claim that the rear derailleur IS backwards compatible - just not the front.
