Sudden drop in power?
I was having a great ride today when my power suddenly dipped and it felt like I was pushing a bike with a flat. I ate an hour before hand and drank plenty of water...any explanations?

Nope checked that too. I don't understand what happened...I looked at the log from my Garmin just now and I was in Zone 4 for the majority of the ride. I'm pretty confused as to what happened...

Some times stuff just happens.
I would suggest that you keep track of what, when, and how much you eat and drink, before and during and after a ride of any distance and note how you feel in a log. You could find you are allergic to something you are eating, or just eating to much of something. Keep track of your BM"s too. If you are not regular, find out why. Good luck.

Agreed. Bonk (no carbs), fatigue, overheating or dehydration. I hit that point after 4 hours last sunday. Wanted to go another hour and a half and finish the century but it would have been painful and 10-15% less power so I passed. If you added it up it was probably too little carbs, you were just done, got too hot or didn't absorb enough water which can happen if you guzzle when you're thirsty because by then it's too late.
The other thing it could be, since you're tracking power, is you burned too many matches. That being staying too long over your FTP without enough recovery. It sucks because the power just falls at least 10%. Don't really know in your case, hope you find out.

Well, I don't track power with a meter or anything, I just figured my power slipped because I struggled to go up hills I have easily conquered before.
I think my problem was I didn't drink enough water in the beginning of the ride, and when it really warmed up and I was cycling into a headwind, my body crapped out.
