I did a search on these bikes dint find much.Just wondering if there road bikes are good.A friend of mine is looking at getting one of the road bikes.He just rides for fun and exercise,maybe does a couple centurys a year.Thanks

Put 12K miles on an Aurora before getting hit by a car... Good value for the money. Lifetime warranty on the frame unless a sudden stop is experienced.

my local shop sells a lot of high end bikes, and jamis as well. when talking with the owner he seems to think they are very good bikes for the money. i tend to agree.

really any name brand frame is going to be pretty good, it all comes down to how its equipped anyway.

Subscribed - I'm interested to hear feedback. I'm in the market for my first road bike, and the Xenith Comp is at the top of my very short list ($2k for monocoque frame, 105 [Ultegra RD] and the BB30 interests me). The (few) published reviews seem to be very positive and almost always indicate a good value.

I just had my neighbor who is new to road riding get a Jamis.

I could write a page on why I like the company, but basically it comes down to designs, geometries, component spec, aesthetics, and price. Jamis seems to have a very good product manager.

I need to get some pics up, but I have a 2008 Jamis Xenith SL. The bike is super responsive and very well built. It is one of the stiffest and lightest frames I've ridden. I would definitely recommend a Jamis to anyone looking for a good road bike at a great price. It is the envy of all my buddies. They ride Scott, Cannondale, Felt, and Cervelo. Obviously the Xentih SL is a pure race bike, but it gives you some idea of quality from the company. I will try and get some pics up soon.

I Love my Jamis. I got a Jamis Xenith Race last year and love it. I had narrowed my selection down to 3 bikes and test rode all 3 to decide. The other bikes were a Jamis Supernova cyclocross bike and a Pinarello FP2. Being a new rider I wasn't sure I would really even be able to tell a difference in bikes. The Pinarello felt like a Ferrari in the corners but didn't have that quick response and solid feel on the climbs. I had been leaning towards the Pinarello 'cause it was so sexy but when I got on the Xenith and really cranked down on the pedals climbing and sprinting I was blown away. It's a beast. They have very good pricing too.

I have a 2004 quest ( 631 reynolds) that I use for long rides and as a commuter. Couldn't be happier with it. I did 70 miles the other day on a group ride and didn't even feel it. Their geometry is great.

I own the same bike and I think it's just fine. Great component spec and a good steel frame. After riding some other bikes—I jumped on that one and knew almost immediately that it would be the one I bought. No regrets at all.

I've owned both a Jamis Coda and a Jamis Dakar full sus mtb and both were excellent bikes. I would think you could not go wrong with Jamis.

In general, they give you a lot of bike for the money. Because they're not well known, they tend to up-spec the parts compared to other, more popluar/well known brands at a similar price point.

They have a ton of bikes in their lineup, for lots of cycling genres...even steel options, as well as fixies, track, etc.

Doesn't have the cachet or mystique other brands will have, if that matters to you. Minimal poseur points.

If you're a buy-and-hold type, you'll do well. If you're liable to sell it later to upgrade, they don't hold resale value well, since newbs and non-cyclists often haven't heard of the brand.

Potential buyer: "Who's 'James'?"

The Ventura Sport is what I had my neighbor get, but I found him a new 2009 for $350 shipped from a shop using ebay to purge last years inventory. This was surprising because from what I've heard shops sell out of these (and other well spec'd road bikes at this price point).
Nevertheless, it is a good entry level bike due to the seat/headtube angles, good standover with sloping frame, compact crank which is harder to find at this price point, fair parts lists, 700x23 tires instead of common entry level 700x25, and it looks good. The square taper BB doesn't really bother me at this price point given they were always reliable and are still easy to find.

I haven't ridden his yet to give a ride report of a entry level bike from a seasoned rider. I'm interested to see the "comfort" level of the ride based on bump/vibrations, and how that aluminum fork performs. The tubes aren't that large so I'm guessing its designed for a less stiff ride.

Jamis has integrated headset, Trek has standard (for whatever its worth)

Everything else almost identical or similar.

I had an Aurora liked it. Jamis seem generally smartly equipped and good values.

Bought a new Quest last month and can't say enough good things about it. Great specs and a comfy, fast ride.

I have several Jamis, I quite like their product. I have a Quest and a Zenith. Look for one with a SST (size specific tubing), numerous companies do it but Jamis is one of few companies that say it specifically.
