Signs Of Spring
It's finally springtime where you live, right? Time to dust off the road bike and lose that winter coat of fur and blubber!
I look no further than my backyard for signs of spring.
Too soon?

Of course we have winter! For instance, in this pic the hills are brown and the mountain tops have snow.
And in this shot you can tell by how soon the sun sets.
Look, there's snow!
And finally, a shot looking out my back window, on Christmas Eve when it's supposed to snow.

Two weeks after the most recent snow, the drifts are still 2 feet deep in my back yard. Still, there is some bare ground and we may see upper 40s this weekend. Last night, under the full moon, in the yard for last call with the dogs, I heard a spring peeper in my nieighbor's pond. It was the most feeble, half-hearted attempt at a mating call out in the 34 degree air. Poor little guy. Gotta give him credit for ambition. Still, that's one of the significant harbingers of warmer weather to come. Hope burns eternal in the hearts of roadies.

Walter looks happier than a pig in slop. As a matter of fact, he kind of looks like a pig in slop. I mean this in the best way. I'm a dogophile. Four of my six big mutts are lying about on the floor as I type this. Uh oh, where are the other two? Better go see what's up with that.

a friend of mine has an English bulldog. They have got to be one of the goofiest and coolest breeds of dogs. Hers is always happy/excited. I almost think his brain couldn't process being mean about anything.

The snow scenes in the mountains above Los Angeles and environs are awesome this year. Mt. Baldy, San Jacinto, San Gorgonio are mantled with snow, on summits reaching above 10,000 feet.
