Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Today...

-I saw and yelled "hi" to Johan Bruyneel as he walked out of his office to his RadioShack Nissan
-I rode past two Omega Pharma-Lotto riders on an easy day, they waved
-I rode with Liz Hatch and an AnPost-Sean Kelly rider up the Muur
-I saw Robbie McEwen and was too flabbergasted to say anything. (My teammates saw him motorpacing down the canal yesterday)
-I saw a Columbia HTC VW wagon (maybe it was an Audi?)
-I rode past a giant monument made out of hundreds of bikes
-I rode up the Muur and the Koppenberg
-I briefly rode with a rider who races for the QuickStep feeder team
-Ate dinner with my roommate, who found out yesterday that she's racing the Womens Tour of Flanders.

What happened to you today that is cycling related?

I've heard that it's rude to take pictures of womens butts, and it was a little preoccupied with the Muur (which, by the way, is not very hard to climb. As I was descending, there was some 60 y/o guy climbing, as you can see in the picture)

I didn't get a pic of McEwen because we were riding opposite directions. Eh, I'll probably see him tomorrow, too. Canal ride.

Today, I built a monument using hundreds of bikes, and some guy comes along and won't even let me be in the picture he took of my work.

What a fartknocker

I just saw that monument was in Pez Cycling News. I'm pretty sure it's new, I didn't even notice it when I rode past it earlier today, or any previous day for that matter.
where I was standing to take that picture was the exact same spot I was talking with a Team BMC soigneur on Sunday, and watching all of the team cars drive by for KBK...

The closest cycling related thing that happened to me today, is that Right To Play is still a client of the company I work for, and I rode my '86 Raleigh Marathon to work. What else? I ordered a new dropout for my OCR. I really think that's about it.

You're a lucky bastard CK...

Today I:

- Got up at 4:45 to head to the gym to take a spin class for 1:15
- Went to work
- Learned that I need a new roof on my house ASAP
- Read a post about a kid who went to belgium and is experiencing all sorts of things I never will, doh!

Nice CK, enjoy your time over there and make the most of it. Check in often to keep us posted. Best of luck to you!

I learned all about the trauma triad of death today (by reading, not by personal experience). Which, I suppose, has some relevance to cycling if you manage to accidentally amputate your leg with your chainring.

Living the dream (or getting there). Thanks for sharing. Cool cool stuff.

This morning I got on my trainer at 5am because I'm still not allowed to ride on the road according to my Dr.

1- I decided to buy the Fuji Cross pro I looked and and tried out last night. Placed it on hold at the store.
2- Picked out the heart rate/cycle computer I want
3- Am leaving work to go pick up the rig in a few minutes.
4- Plan to ride tonight. Finally warm enough in Illinois for a ride. 40 degrees! Yay!

It's not the temp as much as the daylight that is the issue around here.

Me...I got to get sick with the newest virus to hit the psimet house, recover from 2 hrs of trainer time at SST and prepare for 1.75 hours of slightly higher SST tonight. Build some wheels, prep some frames for building, etc.
Oh...and pick up my son and watch him while I am doing all of this.

Next time you stare at Liz remember that can result in having to live a life like mine.....just sayin....
