Tights at online stores

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tights at online stores

Anyone else notice that most of the major online bike shops (performance, nashbar, colorado cyclist, etc) have an awful selection of tights currently? If they have one style in stock, they might only have the x-large or xx-large size available of it as well?

Is this due to changing to 2010 product lines?

Winter is coming to an end, most places in the Northern Hemisphere are stocking up on summer stuff.

Last year, with the transition from a booming economy to a recession, was a great time to get stuff at liquidation prices. This year, following lower production volumes, not so much. A good rule of thumb is calculating how much you are going to use something, and lifetime usage. Price some good stuff, and calculate 3 winters of usage, does it amortize as a good deal? Be willing to wait a little longer, some stuff isn't dumped until May-June.

Tights with Assos-Cytech proprietary ""EIT" pads have been comfy for me. Check elasticinterface.com website for brands that have these pads. For shorter distances, or really tough butts, non-EIT-padded tights will be fine. EIT is kinda like cf bike frames. It is a quantum jump. You have to decide whether you want to take it. You can be happy without it.

Boure makes them to order. If you like padded tights, their new Elite pad is good.

I have the Thermo bib tight. It's a bit different, on mine the thermo material comes halfway up the back, and they are capris length.
Which is about 3 or 4 inches longer than knickers. Anyway, the idea is they will make you what you want, love mine.

... and running out of winter stuff.

If you wanted tights you should have picked them up several months ago.

but one would think that there is just as much utility and need to buy tights leaving the winter season as there is when entering it. (but yes, this does not help a business model)

Pretty much nails it as did the post commenting on the effects of the recession.

Catalog sales tend to stock inventory anticipating the upcoming season. It will (hopefully) get warm again and the sellers are anticipating orders for that gear.

It has been a bad winter, even here in FL, and the catalog companies probably could have had a larger winter inventory.

All I can offer is that Nashbar has tights in tall sizes. For someone with long, skinny legs like me, that's a deal-maker. Thank you, Nashbar.
