that is going back a ways. she now wears full record 10spd and eurus wheels as seen on the previous page.
and the wheelset has moved to a cyclocross bike.
i know it came in under 18lbs as pictured. i think it was something like 17.3-17.5lbs. that wheelset is fairly stout. it has dt swiss 585 rims (585g) and 32 dt swiss competition spokes. they were built for eventual commuting and off road abuse (on the cross bike)
with the much lighter wheels, saddle, crankset/bb, tires, tubes, and chain i believe the bike weight is nearly the same with 10spd.

I thought maybe I had posted my Scattante here before, but I guess not, so here it goes:
This was purchased at the Supergo store in Riverside, CA in 2003. With the Look pedals I paid around $1,000 for it. Specs: All aluminum frame w/ carbon fork. It's got Shimano 105 and Alex wheels (the rear wheel in photo is a replacement because I destroyed the spokes on the original rear wheel). Original saddle was Selle Italia XO which I didn't like, so my old standby - the Flight replaced it. Total weight was about 18 lbs. This bike was stiff and I liked that. It lasted until it got stolen in 2008. I'm still waiting to catch the f-cker who stole it.

To expand I think carbon stays are somewhat of a trend. Sure it may reduce some vibration but it is not a "shock". The correct saddle or seat post may achive the same goal at a lower cost. fwiw Speciaized ditched the carbon stays on their upper end allez.

Just had mine built up by a friend. Campy Centaur components. Without pedals it weighed 17.8 lbs.

that group looks great on there. im unsure about the saddle and bar tape though. i think i would have gone black saddle, black bar tape, and red cable housing. (personal preference) either way i like it better than probably any off the rack bike in the same price range.

I just used the saddle and tape that I had in parts box. Bought the frame and campy group new and everything else out of the parts bin.

XRL Cycloss Frame built up as a Commuter/ Rain Bike
Here is my Commuter / Rain bike.
Bar end shifters
XT Rear derailleur
Velocity A23 COMP wheelset
FSA Omega Handlebar
SKS Longboard fenders
Rides surprisingly smooth, stiff through the bottom bracket and climbs fairly well. bought the frame for around $200 when it was a performance daily special

that's cool, i'm not saying it looks bad by any means, just that it's a similar color combo i was considering but wasn't sure how it would look with all the red accents on that frame. i might give some of that half black/half red tape a try, wrap it so the black mostly overlaps the red, leaving just a little red showing.

This is my contribution to the thread. I found this Scattante 560 in my local Craigslist and I went ahead and got it. It was practically new as the previous owner must have used it a handful of times. I have upgraded the seat post, stem, and handle bars to carbon. I also replaced the saddle with a Selle Italia and the breaks with Campagnolo Centaur's. The bike is very smooth and should serve me well.
