Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Spring's here in the northeast and I've been dying to get out, this will be my 4th season road biking so I thought to indulge some and upgrade from my old Windsor Knight to something lighter (or according to BF, 'stiffer and more vertically compliant'). Tore my old bike apart, salvaged what i could and rebuilt everything by hand. Learned a lot building this and really looking forward to the next one (lol).

Parts bought:

Planet X Superlight Road Pro Carbon frame
Planet X Threadless headset/compression bung
Ultegra 6703 FD
Ritchey Comp seatpost
Seatpost collar

Everything else is from my old ride (ultegra 6700 series drivetrain/shifters, and old fuji race saddle, tektro brakes, vuelta xrp wheels w/ vredestien fortezza tricomp tires, truvativ gxp bb
and crankset)

Riding it has this weird 'foamy' kind of smoothness compared to my old bike, and the move to compact road geo definitely has a twitchiness that my old ride didn't have. It is very quick though, weighs about 18 lbs naked (aerobars). It'll be a good season just gotta get used to the carbon creak

Check out the pics below...

Carbon creak? I've ridden several carbon frames and never had a carbon creak. Enjoy your new bike.

yeah, it's actually settled down after a while. Part of it was a semi-loose headset. Also being my first carbon, the frame has a uh, more hollow-sound to it?
