Do you ride the same bikes you are "sponsored" by?
Many of us are on a local team, which have one or a few bike names attached to them. For instance, "Bill's Cycles" will sell Specialized, and have the Specialized logo on their jersey. Just curious, do you ride the brand that "sponsors" you?

nope. Not unless they plan to buy me a bike or I get a helluva deal. I really like my team though. We have about 10-15 sponsors so it's not that significant.

Spooky on my jersey and Spooky under me unless it is a TT. Spooky doesn't make a TT bike.

Cannondale sponsors us and they make a team edition frame. However, I am awaiting my Tsunami so I guess it's a no.

Marinoni doesn't sponsor too many teams here in Australia.
And as far as I know the teams I'm a member of (two of them) don't have any bike names associated with them.

Nope, the road racer's a Schwinn, the XC-racing mountain bike's a Specialized, and our club's shop sponsor is a Trek dealer. And I work for a different shop that competes with our club's shop sponsor. And I narrowly edged out a racer from my own employer's little race team at the state masters RR championship, and will be on the competing shop's 24-hour race team this year.
So it's about as screwed up as it could possibly get here

No. Flanders is "sponsored" by Flanders bikes.
I will, however, be getting a Token bike with Token shifting and Token wheels pretty soon, because my US team is sponsored by them. Free bike. YAY!

In the Masters 45+ category, I highly doubt that the sponsorship deal really matters. We're not providing too many "impressions" when we race in an industrial park criterium.
It's not like the bike shop's marketing department is working late on Friday reviewing the impact study too closely.
This falls under the "taking this a little too seriously" heading.

It always seemed to me that it was more about people looking to get into cycling (or looking to upgrade) seeing the bikes being ridden around town by people they think are "fast" than what happens at races.

Nope. We have a team deal with Orbea. It was an okay deal, but I can't afford a new frame, and their geometry doesn't really work for me anyway. There's a few people riding them but I think there's more people on a BMC frame. I'm on a Felt, at least one guy on a Ridley, and one guy on a Parlee.
When they offer 50% off, free, or I get a massive raise I'll consider riding the "official" team bike.

$300 takes one. The largest size is a 555 toptube with a 76 seat angle. Depending on how much drop you can ride, they might work for you(your on 563 with a negative -17 stem, right?).

We hooked up a bike sponsor thanks to CrimsonKarter - on good faith. No one needed a rig and they weren't handing them out so we put the logo on the jersey out of good faith. Since then I believe we have bought 3 or 4 bikes. Plan on getting more as well. I will most likely ride one if I get some cash cleared up. I would only do so because they are a sponsor and it would look better if the team owner was riding one.
Funny thing is that now if you google certain keywords associated with them my blog comes up before their site does. Funny. I am more relevant. I am considering opening a dealership for them as well now.

I ride the bikes that I personally sponsor, and the Geritol racing team that I belong to doesn't have any Geritol racing stuff.

Team is sponsored by trek - I ride a specialized. I'm not a big fan of trek, the deal was good but not incredible, and I got a better deal on my tarmac.

Call Paul. I have some cheap but sevicable Chinese frames with good geometry that I sourced for a bikeshop's house brand that never happened sitting around right now.
$300 takes one. The largest size is a 555 toptube with a 76 seat angle. Depending on how much drop you can ride, they might work for you(your on 563 with a negative -17 stem, right?).

Actually I'm on a 575 with a negative 17 stem slammed all the way down. I could ride a little lower in the front (hint, hint!). I'm a big guy with a LONG torso, so long toptube bikes with short headtubes are my nirvana.
I converted my 57 cm 2002 Lemond Zurich over to my TT rig. It has a really short headtube so I can get really low. It seems to be working for me.
On May 1 we have the State TT champs. If things go bad I might give Paul a call.
