Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

wheelset recommendations?

6'4" 200-210lbs. Specialized Roubaix Elite. Recommendations for a decent wheelset? Use includes sprint and Olympic triathlons, a short commute to work (9 miles one way), and the occasional century. Looking for speed, but with enough comfort for longer distances. Would like to keep it under $800.

Thanks!

I'll be the first to say to keep what you have if they aren't giving you any problems.... seriously.

You really can't have a wheel that will do a race justice by being light and aero, but have the strength to accidentally go through potholes and not want to be stolen by the fellow city-goer. I would suggest using the wheels you have now for commute and small rides, and the new ones for anything else. On that note, go buy yourself some wheels from Psimet or Soul. Plenty of choices there.

^^ I agree. If your current wheels are decent, use them for commuting/training/centuries etc, and treat yourself to a hot set of williams, eastons, souls, or psimet handbuilts for racing.

I'm pretty sure that model came with Mavic Aksiums. They are a bit heavy for racing but would be perfect for commuting and long distance. They make a great training wheelset because they can take a beating and not need a true (heck i toured on them and didn't need to true them).

But take the above advice and buy some nice wheels for special events.
