Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

michelin pr3s--opinions

Have always used prs---but both the originals and my current 2's develop lots of crazing and a few hairy bits on the sidewalls, they ride great though and I rarely puncture--just seems like they "dry out"--are the 3's an improvement?

I like the PR 2s, the PR 3 wear faster and cut easier because of the softer tread rubber...better racing tire, but worse training tire, IMHO

PR2's are cheap at Nashbar right now (don't forget the coupon codes!).

Edit - never mind. They were cheap in the catalog I was looking at, but I don't see the deal online anymore. Probably sold out.

My 3's cut very easily but man do they grip, and they roll forever! Lovely race tire. I like them more then the vredestien fortezza tri's I had.

I heard a lot about these tires so tried them out, quickly went back to the Conti GP4000s.

How do they compare as a race tire and would you use them as a training tire too? I'm keen to try some conti stuff out but I have limited experience.

I've run the GP4000s and currently run PR3's. I even ran the 25c's for a while, and loved ripping down torn up Mingus mountain with them, catching harleys LOL. Never had any issues cutting PR3's, I think some people are just cursed.

I like the profile of the Mich better than the pointy GP's, and trust it to grip better.

Michelin makes the best motorcycle tires in the world, they know rubber. Conti? Meh.

Same here. The PR2's seemed to last longer than the 3's, IMO the 3's cut easier and I didn't get the mileage out of then compared to my Conti 4k's, which I went back to. The 3's are probably a good race day tire? But for every day riding there are better options, I think.
