Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't get quite that OCD on my bike cleaning routine, but have waxed frames before sticking them on top of the roof rack for a couple of thousand kms. Makes the bugs wash off much easier.

I was wondering why anyone would wax their bike…

I don't wax my bike, the soap I use makes it look wax-clean. But give it a try you could probably be 0.002 seconds faster from the aerodynamics.

In a .01 second TT, that's a big gain. Totally worth it.

My intention is to protect the finish. I wasn't even thinking about aerodynamics.
