Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

here, for your viewing enjoyment, are the two newest additions to the family.

first, my girlfriend's new Kestrel Evoke SL, from bikesdirect. everything is carbon, full rival group. it's light as hell, she's loving it.

next, my new Masi Speciale. 105/Ultegra group, brooks b17 narrow, de-stickered ritchey pro wheels. rode it 60 miles this weekend. i keep it in my office for lunchtime rides; hence the toe clip pedals.

i was saying in another thread - after seeing her kestrel, i feel like a chump. for what i paid for my Felt F3SL with rival, i could have had the Kestrel RT800 with full RED.

I like that Swiss bike! The LBS I got my bike from had one in stock for a decent price - but bikes direct had the better deal (with them for about the same price I would have had the rival group)

Anyway, went for the Giant I have now. It was a couple of hundred less, and the bike store guy cnvinced me I would like it better due to the less aggressive position.

Still - the Kestrel looks cooler. And it is a bit lighter. If I ever want a race bike or something more aggressive - I already know what it will be!

Super nice ride there.

I like it, although I have a Masi myself. Mine is a 3vc model.

Most won't like it here because of the Brooks saddle and toe clips.

Heck, nothing against the Brooks - I'd put it on the Kestral....................

Yes, the Masi is nice - but the Kestral is really sweet. Almost makes me want to get a road bike ----------------- almost!

Sweet bikes. I have a Masi cross frame with the same colors (and same basic frame). I modified the **** out of it so that all that remains are the frame and brakes. Love the feel of the frame, though.

I love the Kestrel, and the Masi is nice, it just deserves a nicer Brooks (or to trim the side of the Brooks like a lot of people do)

I definitely have to say the masi is nice, it just looks classy, can't say as I'm such a big fan of the kestrel though, it just looks kind of plain in comparison. They're both nice bikes though.
