Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I had one goal today. Ride hard.

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/68486821

I looked at my average power for the 2 hours and it was 283 W (4 W/kg)

I guess all that winter training paid off

Seriously. A ride like that is a goal for me, not something I just go out and do. Some day

Membership is free, you know.

I've been wishing my HR wouldn't get up so high. I'm 40 years old, so I guess I still have some cardiac function left. The highest it has been was 192. I think it could have gone higher than that, but I quit pushing. Haven't yet seen stars, so I'm probably not pushing the absolute limits.

Still have around 15-20 lbs. to lose 'til I'm lean and mean. Doubt it'll change HR too much, but at least there will be less weight to lug around.

Super-mellow XC night ride: https://connect.garmin.com/activity/68522844 I was leading the ride, so I had to keep the speed moderate.

Glad to see this thread picking up again. It really gets lame in here in the Winter. Spring must be on its way! Anyway, here's my ride from yesterday. I'm a little surprised at myself having this kind of speed this early in the year. I'm not saying I'm fast by BF standards but by my standards, I'm way ahead of where I normally start the season. I guess all the time on the rollers/in spin class/doing P90X has kept me in some kind of shape. My Haleakala ride didn't hurt either.

Copperhed51, why is your ride called "Last Colorado Ride?" ?

Yesterday was amazing. Warm and not windy. I got out for a lunch ride: https://connect.garmin.com/activity/68596204

02/15: I, Active Recovery. Going to be a boring rest week, and we have rain in this weekend's forecast. But I'm looking forward to Monday's FTP test: 300W or Bust!

Tuesday evening group ride... aka; Hauling a$z in the dark. As much as some folks can't wait for winter to be over, I can't wait for the clocks to go forward again.

I'm moving back to KC tomorrow. Quit my job in Denver and am going back to my previous job I was furloughed from in St. Louis. Today is honestly just too windy to enjoy riding solo plus I'm surrounded by sick people lately and I think it's finally catching up with me.

Wow, that is one incredibly flat, straight ride. Still looks like fun though.

Ah, gotcha. Hope your old job & locations suits you better! Yes today & all last weekend the wind has been awful. Not unusual, just awful. :-)

Rainy, windy. But figured I needed to get out and get some time in, plus with rain forecasted for Saturday's race, I wanted to get myself re-accustomed to the conditions, at least a little.

Your average watts were 312 and your average speed was 13.7? You have to weigh like 1500 lbs!

Night, 30°F, heavy studded-tire mountain bike with panniers & lights. A Thermos of hot coffee would've been nice... anyway, I had visions of a major hill-climbing expedition, but my feet were getting cold despite wool socks, Specialized Defroster shoes and waterproof booties, so I bailed for home. Discretion is the better part of valor, and all that

here's one, 30 minute test at 382w average at 68kg. Probably the best I have felt on a bike... just need to race well.

First ride of the day, got cut short due to a locked up freewheel. Last five miles or so of the ride I couldn't coast and it sucked, especially on the descent.

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/68898376

Second ride of the day after fixing the freehub with the help of a dremel to a broken spur in the hub. I could have sent it in for warranty but I didn't want to mess with shipping it back.
