I just got a GoPro 3+ Black yesterday, what do you guys/gals think is the best way to mount it, and what do you feel is the best setting for video? 1440x48 or 1080x60?
thanks for the help.

Awesome videos, but your captions could be subject to misinterpretation by some to the deviant minds here.

Thanks to the Air Force reserve, I spent the summer in San Antonio and rode a lot with my civilian employers cycling team. The video is mostly still pictures since I didn't get my GoPro until October. The "That Hondo Ride" video is referring to hitting a dog about ten minutes after the video scene. The dog walked away, I didn't. It is all good now though.

Helmet mounting is good for showing the viewer things that are not directly in front of you. It is especially nice on climbs with beautiful views that are off to the side. It also offers the best sound quality. Speaking of sound quality, be sure to use the provided non-waterproof door on your GoPro's case, otherwise sound suffers greatly due to the microphone being covered.
Handlebar mounting is good too, but avoid the plastic mount made by GoPro as that has been known to break off suddenly, sending the camera crashing to the ground. The best mounts are the aluminum alloy K-Edge ones like this or this. If you want a rear-facing camera mount, they make this mount that clamps to your saddle rails.
I would use the 1080p 60fps resolution. YouTube's highest playback resolution is 1080p.

On the next nice sunny day, I will get some nice video's of Okinawa and show you all them!

But some folks may not like the weight. And I always look behind me; your viewer may get dizzy.
Try to experiment with different positions and see which one(s) "you" like best. I would just leave
the setting at 1080 unless you plan on watching the footage on the latest 4K tv's(LG Ultra, etc.).

LET'S ROLL
You're lucky to have the Central Park loop practically by your doorsteps and the Hudson River path a
couple of minutes away. I have to ride at least half an hour to get to some decent routes; 9W, River
Road below the GW, etc. Here's an update on that video; new pedals, new bike - same route:

budkid, tks for that. Brought back memories of going along it in the other direction the last section of my west coast trip many many moons ago. I remember it being pretty and all, but the main memory is just of the wealth represented in the houses.

Here's a short steep kicker that always hurts so good because it's always near the end of the ride after all the big climbs are done! This time I modified the default gauge in DashWare. I removed the power gauge since I don't own a power meter, and I changed the heart rate readout from red to yellow to make it easier to read.
Here's a descent from the same group ride.
Here's the climb back out of that canyon.
I know this one is a mtb climb, but this demonstrates the additional features of the current version of DashWare. All the previous videos were created with a version that was several years old, so it didn't have as many default gauges to choose from. It also didn't encode at bitrates higher than 10000kbps. My new GoPro Hero3+ records at 15000kbps at 720p 60fps. The current version of DashWare encoded this at over 17000kbps, so the quality of the edited version is slightly better, at least on the file that's stored on my hard drive. YouTube probably dumbed it down so it looks just like the first two videos.
Since my mountain bike doesn't have a speed/cadence sensor, I didn't use my modified default speed/cadence/heart rate gauge. I modified the low-speed dial gauge instead. I removed the gray and black background. This looks better and allows the scenery to show through. I also changed the color of the digital readout from red to yellow to make it easier to read at lower resolutions and screen sizes. The rest of the gauges are unmodified default ones except the distance one, which is a simple text gauge I made.

Hey freighttraininguphill
Good videos as usual. That downhill was great, I didn't care for the truck driver, but it proves those kind of people are everywhere.
Thanks for the videos. Ride safe.

train-I have run over squirrels on both motorcycles and bicycles, and always in that split second lighten the front and dont make any swerving actions, not because i want to sqwersh the little guys, but I'm not going to lose the front and go down for a squirrel. A little kid of course, I'd go down to avoid a person, but a squirrel, nope.
