Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mavic Ksyrium SL: Convert Shimano to Campy? Or . . .

My favorite all-purpose wheels are a set of Mavic Ksyrium SLs. They are set up for Shimano cassettes. Now the questions:

Can a Ksyrium SL Shimano be converted to Campy (without shipping the wheel off)? Is it worth doing? Or are you better off buying a Campy wheel from the outset?

Is it really that hard to give a straight answer (if you know)?

Edit: Never mind. I see that you couldn't find anything, either!! (What was the point of your post, then?)

1. Remove Freehub
2. Buy Campy Freehub: https://www.google.com/products?clien...ed=0CDYQrQQwAg
3. Reinstall freehub

Yeah, I knew you could replace a Campy freehub with a Campy freehub. Nice to see that there's a video of it.

I also know Mavic manufactures an adapter freehub.

I wonder if anyone here has done the surgery, though. And whether the resulting wheel worked as well as a from-the-factory item.

If you do the install right, it should work fine. There's no converter or anything, you're doing the same thing mavic does at the factory. Installing a campy freehub on their wheel. The only diff between campy factory wheels and shim ones are the freehub body.
