Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

"I flipped it", or "I didn't get dropped", or "Today's ride"

I wonder how much flipping my stem helped with this one?

Wow, what a ride today! Rode up to FolsomBikes and got a cup of coffee. Who should roll in but Team Liquigas! Here's me posing with the team.

Some of their bikes. The white one is Chicchi's.

My bike was mixed in with their's.

On the way back, I was caught and passed by 2 riders from Team RadioShack. I asked if I could draft for as long as I could hold on. I think they were rather amused, but they agreed. Holding on (at least for me) for 7 miles at 22mph sure put my cardio to the test. I think I can recalculate my LT now.

They consented to a picture when I hit my turn off. Turns out, I was drafting Jani Brajkovich and Yaraslov Popovich (sp?).

Ended up with a 17.5mph avg and my fastest ride back from the shop yet. I've never done that 16 mile stretch in 40 minutes before!

Way cool! I notice that Liquigas' training tires are the same as my race tires. That's the difference between a UCI team and a self-supported Cat 3, huh?

It's a lovely day today. I think it was getting into the upper 70's or 25 C as I finished up. Lovely weather .

This is the weather for the next week:

I had this last week almost entirely off due to class cancellations, and it poured the entire week.

On my ride yesterday it was cloudy and I was at times stuck on the wheel of a guy wearing worn out white bibs. I hate you.

What a great story. I bet you had a great ride.

Did you give them any tips on how to ride?

It does. On the top tube it says "The Sheriff". Very cool paint job.

@coasting. Uh, no. I was just happy to have a chance to ride with them.

Ah, thanks. I don't follow racing closely, but after a quick google search I understand he's a fan of western movies. I bet it really stands out despite the lack of bright colors.

I must have just missed you Joel. I pulled up to Folsom Bike and Liquigas was still there. I waited around for an hour or so for quickstep to come back (with Boonen) but had to take off. Saw the 2 Radioshack guys on Folsom Blvd when I was heading to the shop.
