Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Remember that time I squeezed my top tube?

Well Fauxto's notorious System Six has had it's last top tube squeeze, by it's own back stabbing handle bars while Fauxto was making out with the asphalt.

CAAD9 here I come.

R.I.P. System Six, it was real, and it was fun.

Edit:GRAPHIC PIC

damn, that sucks. But for some reason I feel you've wanted an alu bike almost since you got your system six.

Where's your other finger? Did you leave it on the asphalt?

You have nice teeth.

Frame isn't that interesting just a crack from the handlebars on the top tube and a fracture in the headtube/toptube joint. It wasn't that bad of a crash I'm honestly surprised it was trashed. I guess it just hit the ground in the right way with the right leverage on the top tube. That top tube is just SO thin, pretty broken hearted.

Mike, I kind of have to agree, I'm almost looking forward to the CAAD9. I'm young and I don't have money falling out of my pockets so to be able to have a bike that I know can handle some abuse and isn't such an investment is nice.

Plain and simple if I had been riding a CAAD9 or my Trek 1500, they would have made it out of this crash.

Siu's right...that pic makes it looks like your big toe was grafted onto your hand and that you only have 3 fingers and a thumb!

See? And I kept staring and staring, even trying to see if the two fingers were together....

And is that a couch in what looks like the kitchen?

Oh...Hope you are feeling better.

You might be able to epoxy and salvage the frame depending on how bad the crack is.

But I know that you want the CAAD 9.

I thought about sending it to Calfee but figured it'd be the price of a CAAD9 and then I have to consider that if the bike took a hard enough hit that the head tube was put under enough stress that it cracked at the joint then the fork is probably toast too. I've made my peace that the frame is gone, I stripped it threw it in a trash bag and stuck it in a closet where I won't have to see it.

Or if you find your finger, use it on that. Or duct tape. Duct tape works wonders for everything.

When you are feeling better about the frame then hang it up as wall art. Then you can tell stories on how it DIDN'T disintegrate under you and actually saved you from being hurt even more.

Nick:

Ouch.

Your finger looks like mine after my last crash. Hit by car, and my hand met my chainring. Yeah. Ouch. Heal up, and show us that new CAAD asap!

The top and down tube of my Orbea Orca are squeezable as well so I'm going to pretend I didn't open and read about any of this. Hope your finger heals quickly.
