Seeking Advice from Tour De France Caliber riders on BF for road bike training.
I was hoping to get some info from people who ride in the big Tours like TDF, Giro, etc. on BF. I want to get into road riding more and was wondering how to go about training to get to your level. Well, maybe not get to your level, but I could definitely use some of your training methods to get to the best level that I can be. How do you guys train for a year? How much do you ride a week, and what kind of training do you guys do. Do you guys take a month of for recovery...and how much recovery time do you need. Also discuss diet, nutrition, etc. I'm a pretty tall guy, about Any Schlek's height, but have too much muscle right now. Will muscle way me down or should I lose all the muscle and just be skinny bone jones like Schlek? I know this thread might sound crazy but I figure the best training advice would be from the true professionals of the sport. Thanks in advance and happy riding.

How do you get to the TDF.....intervals, intervals and more intervals.
A guy asking pianist Arthur Rubinstein "Pardon me sir, but how do I get to Carnegie Hall?" and Rubinstein replying, "Practice, practice, practice."

Practice can get you almost anywhere... but to be a world-class pro you must be one seriously gifted mofo (and also practice).

I don't think there are any professionals that post on this site regularly bro. However, lance Armstrong has written (did he actually write them himself? I digress) a number of books that may answer some of your questions.

I wanted the low down on how pros train is all. I'm sure they are meticulous in their training regimen and diet. I'd like to know how they train for one year. I guess their training is top secret.

If people who ride in those events came here, it would only be for comic relief ... to have a bit of a laugh.

They decide which race(s) they really want to do well in and adjust their training so they peak for said races.
Too much muscle is kinda vague. I wouldn't go out of my way to lose muscle mass unless you've been on the body building circuit. Kinda depends on what events you want to race in. Bulky muscles are sometimes good to have for short distance events, for instance.
