Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it, and not one penny more.
Couldn't ebay answer this better than BF?

Enjoy

Umm only if it was on ebay. I'm looking for opinions of people who know bikes like yourself. If you or another bikeforum were looking to buy it... How much would you consider offering? I'm new to bikes and just looking for some help in my purchase.

I have seen new bikes that have been trashed / neglected by the owner.
I have seen old bikes that spent 10 yrs hanging from the garage rafters.
Until you go see the bike, get an idea of how it was used, determine if anything needs replaced, determined if it fits the rider properly.......a value cannot be assessed.

Just trying to help.

Enjoy

This would be assuming the bike is the right size for her etc and nothing needs replacing. I'm looking I guess for a kbb style valuation if this was a car. Ie worth this much for excellent this much for good etc. That ebay listing doesnt mean much as that bike didn't sell at that price.

Yea, BF doesn't work like that, would be nice though.
If we say it's worth $800 and you buy it do we get to laugh?

Enjoy

I just bought one off Kijiji locally for $1250 CDN. 4000 miles on it, but with new chain, cassette, tires, and pretty much in showroom condition.

For the same bike on eBay, I might have bid up to about $1000. I'm a little surprised that one on eBay didn't go for the listed price, actually.

The expert in double and triple sold for $2300. I think anything under $1000 is a good deal. Make sure that the bike is in good shape. Check for cracks. My daughters Sport had a cracked head tube (which they replaced at no charge) but she was the first owner.

appreciate the help. Thats kinda the answer I was looking for. I really just want to get her something decent with integrated shifting. This seems to be a bit overkill but if we can get a good deal it sounds nice.
