Tonight's group ride:
- 75 degrees, sunny.
- 31 miles, country roads, almost no traffic.
- Our B group, well organized pace line (8 guys at the end).
- 20.2 mph average, despite a strong head wind for most of the ride.
- I did my share of pulling; it hurt.
- Major post ride endorphin high.
Life is good!

Sound like the group ride we had tonight. Ours was a little longer, but i guarantee Iowa is flatter, still windy though .

i dunno what wisconsin or ohio are like, but sacramento is ridiculously flat. i used to live in berkeley and that place is just a big hill by itself.

I had a good ride last Thursday. It was hot at first, but cool down (evening ride). We did 34 miles at a B-, social pace. The ride is normally 25 miles, but we included a lap around a mountain. There's a nice 500 foot climb spread over a mile or two where we like to see who can drop who. I take off halfway through the climb and blow past. Manage to drop the pack (about ten guys/gal) except for one guy who holds on my tail.
At the end of the ride the slower group (doing the 25 mile ride) came in about 5 minutes afterwards. We shared stories, talked about current issues, and drank beer.

Peloton Shelter Dog
This explains everything, including the idiotic thread title.
I can't come down on you too hard, Uncle Pcad has experienced similar post-ride euphoric delusions. Sadly, it never lasts, you will have to repeat this tomorrow to sustain the high. That's the whole idea anyway.
Cycling. You can't escape. No one gets out of here alive anyway.
