Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

looking for a bike

hey im just interested looking for a new bike in the future. im looking to get a quality bike that i wont outgrow. im interested in performance since im a competitive person ( im not sure if any competition is in the future) i would preferably like to spend around 800-900 if that would work . is that a good budget to find a nice ride or should i save a bit more to open up more options . i have been learning a bit about components but i dont know much about frames in this range. i just want to have some knowlege before i go into a bike shop

You can get yourself a decent bike for that price. Look for leftover models or sales. Try performance bike if they are local or as Mt said, try your local bike shop. Cannondale Caad9, Specialized Allez, Fuji newest etc.
