Cycling Cadence - forget what you know

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I see lots of different posts but little or no fact.

My understanding is that ideal normal cadence should be between 80 to 100 not 60, true or false?

Why do threads like this exist in Road?

The last bit of interest I had in BF has just slipped away.
I'm certain that I won't be missed.

Adios, navel gazers.

"Ideal normal cadence" is a fairly meaningless statement, and although 80-100 will be fairly typical is not necessarily always the "best"

60-70 is probably the most efficient as far as doing the least amount of work for the most speed, but it is certainly not fast.

Sustained effort and fast speed requires a cadence in the 100 range. Thats road racing, fast touring etc.

Sprinting requires a higher cadence. In the flying 200m, riders are spinning 140-170.
