Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ultegra 6501 shifters

Looking to start purchasing some shifters for my next build and came across these on CL. I don't think they look too bad - only 500 miles on them. Dude turned it into a SS and doesn't want these anymore. My question is, what are they worth? They are at a price point that makes them attractive, a price I am leaving out of this post to get your honest answers and compare.

Thanks.

I'd be paying about $125-$150 in these parts.

You realize they're 9 speed, right?

Yes, that's part of the allure. 10 speed components are quite a leap cost-wise, unlike 8 to 9. I want to keep this build nice, but simple :-)

Those appear to be 6510's by the way, not 6501s. 6501 has a gray plastic piece between the hood and lever, and is much older than the 6510s.

Looks like they are worth more than you would think.
