Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's low end, but it does the job until I can afford to upgrade.

Nice color match of bartape, frame, tires and car. A blue seat would top it off.

The VW matches it nicely

I'm biased, I love my Giant (even if it's the older sister of yours: OCR 2002). I've been looking at a Defy last week at the LBS and they actually tried to sell me one. Unfortunately my financial position isn't allowing me to get a new road bike (yet). I know what I would choose. Either a Defy, or it would be a TCR.

You guys should stop by the Vortex cycling forum more often. We're a friendly bunch, don't worry.

I wish it had been available, although I'd like to upgrade to Rival with this frame.

First time waxing it. My wife thinks I am a dork.

Canon S3IS. I'm too shaky not to use a tripod though.

Me too

Excuse the "other addiction" on the roofrack. Pic was taken last summer on a paddling / riding escape to the Ottawa valley. I will also endorse the vortex forum for car context.

Good pictures. Unfortunately far too many great bike pics are sullied by the presence of a nude woman. It detracts from an otherwise nice cassette.

Oh yeah, LOVE the Jetta wagons. If I ever run across a MKIV wagon in blue lagoon, I will sell my soul right there on the spot (only seen one, in Ohio).

Thanks for the comment, but ??? I haven't seen any nude women detracting from bike pictures on BF.... I must be in the wrong subforum.

Compacts are OK for reasonably flat terrain, not so good for many miles of 15% grades, which is what we have in Los Angeles, and what I rode two days ago. It's why I have more than one road bike, with different gearing for each. If I could only have one bike, it would be a triple, because I wouldn't want to give my epic climbs.
