Nashabr Bib Review
I know there quite a few recent threads about bibs, and that bib threads are very common, but I saw no results for this specific bib. Most of these threads extol the virtues of the high-end Assos as well as the Performance Elite bibs, but I have to say I am more than happy with my Nashbar bibs.
I got two pairs in black/white, and one pair black/red. The Nashbar logo is very unobtrusive on the left cuff, and quite frankly is the last thing on my mind. I'm not advertising, I'm too busy crushing souls
For reference, I've used the Santini's, which I like a lot, the De Marchi Race bib, which is also not bad, but short in the leg, and the Performance Ultra, which is just ok. For the price, this bib is well worth the money, and next time they go on super sale, I'll be stocking up for the next five years.
Bring on the shill comments
EDIT: Yes, I know I messed the title. Sue me.

So this is the "Premium" jersey (the one with colored panel)? I've bought the "gel" (all black) before because of all the bad reviews that the "premium" one gets on nashbar's own web site. May have to try that pair out, with the cheap price of course.

One big problem with shorts from Nashbar or Performance is that they are constantly changing their suppliers. If this year's model works great for you, you may hate next year's model because it is completely different (even though the product name is the same).

Can you please cite your source on this? I have purchased three sets of Performance bibs over the past five years, and they all appear the same to me. Makes a good reason to buy a lot of what fits for you.

I too have purchased previous year bibs from Nashbar including the gels. The gels were horrid, but I tend to wear a pair of Novara cycling undies under them. What a dream that has been on my hind end. I recently purchased the super sales ones a week or so ago, red/black as well. The pad I did notice is kind of sharp on the edges when not riding, but while riding they are fine. I am a cheap person when it comes to cycling and thus far have been lucky. One of these days maybe I will step up besides my team kits. Thus far I have been a fan of the cheap arse Nashbar bibs, but I am still doing a pair of Novara undies under them. More cushion for the butt. Yeah, I know it is super nooby, but it works well for me.

I did my first long distance ride in these today, and my opinion of these bibs only got got better. 45 miles, and I really noticed the wicking/evaporation. It was 91ºF, so there was plenty to wick. One of the hardest things when it comes to these bib threads is how the bibs fit/are sized. I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to make a sticky with everyone who reviews a bib, the size that fits them and their height and weight.

I don't need no stinking sources. The differences are obvious when you see the shorts in the store. The chamois may have a different shape or thickness or surface, etc. The lycra may fit differently or be sewn differently or have a different weight. At least Performance usually labels the shorts with the model year (at least for their Elite and Ultra models). I don't think Nashbar does that (even though they are owned by Performance).

Thanks for the review, I've been considering picking up some bibs from Nashbar and this will help for sizing and easing my mind about getting cheapos from online!

I ordered a paid of the Nashbar Premiums. We'll see how they are when they get here. I also want to order a set of the love2pedal.com deluxe ones to compare against the Nashbar Premiums. Trying to get a cyclist's wardrobe together on a budget is not an easy task.
